Connecting your social media accounts

You can connect your LinkedIn, Bluesky, and Facebook accounts directly with Haiilo to make sharing content from Haiilo to social media simple and easy. The social networks you can connect to depend on which ones your admins have enabled for your platform.

Once your account is connected, depending on your company domain's settings, you might also be able to use your social media credentials to log in to Haiilo.

You can't link your X, Xing, Instagram, or WeChat accounts to Haiilo, but you can still share content from Haiilo on these platforms without linking them.

Connect a LinkedIn account

  1. Open your user drop-down menu.
  2. Select Account Settings.
  3. Scroll down until you reach the Social Network Settings option.
  4. Click the Connect button next to LinkedIn.
  5. You will be redirected to LinkedIn's login page to log in with your LinkedIn credentials.

The validity of your LinkedIn connection is determined solely by LinkedIn and cannot be influenced by Haiilo. Generally, a LinkedIn connection remains valid for up to 60 days, but Haiilo's system attempts to refresh the connection for up to a year. Essentially, this means that you need to reconnect your LinkedIn account to Haiilo at least once a year. However, LinkedIn reserves the right to invalidate the connection at any time, meaning you can be required to reconnect more frequently.

Connect a Bluesky account

To connect your Bluesky account to Haiilo, you need to complete steps on both Bluesky and Haiilo.

On Bluesky

You need to create an app password in your Bluesky account so Haiilo can connect to your account.

  1. Log in to your Bluesky account.
  2. Select Settings > Privacy & Security > App Passwords.
  3. Select Add app password.
  4. Give your app password a name that allows you to identify where it's being used, e.g., Haiilo.
  5. Uncheck Allow access to your direct messages. This access isn't needed for sharing to Haiilo.
  6. Select Next.
  7. Copy and temporarily save your app password somewhere safe; you'll need it for the next steps on Haiilo. Remember, this password is only shown to you once, so if you miss saving it now, you won't be able to see it again later.

On Haiilo

  1. Log in to your Haiilo platform.
  2. Open your user drop-down menu.
  3. Select Account Settings.
  4. Scroll down until you reach the Social Network Settings option.
  5. Click the Connect button next to Bluesky.
  6. In the pop-up modal that appears, enter:
    • Bluesky username: Your handle on Bluesky that appears after @ and usually ends with .bsky.social. For example, in the handle @sam-smith.bsky.social, the username you need to input in Haiilo is sam-smith.bsky.social without the @ sign.
    • App password: The app password you generated in your Bluesky account.
  7. Select Connect to establish the connection.

Once your connection is established, the pop-up modal will close, and you're all set to share!

You can read about the data Haiilo gets from your social network connection in Data & security information for Haiilo Advocacy.

The validity of your Bluesky connection is determined by the validity of your app password and username. If you edit your username or revoke your app password, the connection will be severed.

Connect a Facebook account

Connecting your Facebook account to Haiilo is only necessary if you want to log in to Haiilo using your Facebook credentials. You can share content to Facebook without needing to connect your account.

  5. Click the Connect button next to Facebook.

Once the connection has been established successfully, you will see Disconnect listed next to the social network in Haiilo. This means your account is connected.

If you ever want to disconnect your social media account from Haiilo, simply click the Disconnect button in Haiilo, and the connection will be severed. Alternatively, you can also disconnect from your social network account's settings.
